Prayers - Through the Saints

What need I fear?
Alone with none by Thee, my God
I journey on my way.
What need I fear when Thou are near
Oh King of night and day?
More safe am I within Thy hand
Than if a host did round me stand.
(attributed to St. Columba, 521-597)

[Composed by Louis, Bishop of Saint Dié ]

Lord,
if your people still have need of my services
I will not avoid the toil.  Your Will be done.
I have fought the good fight long enough.
Yet if You bid me continue to hold the battle line in defense of Your camp,
I will never beg to be excused from failing strength.
I will do the work You entrust to me.
While you command, I will fight beneath Your banner.

-- St. Martin of Tours

May God who has offered healing and strength through the hands of His only Son, our Lord, and through Christ's many servants grant me the favor of His healing hand through the intercession of His servant, Fr. Vincent Capodanno, priest, misisonary and chaplain, who always sought to heal and comfort the wounded and dying on the field of battle. May I be granted this request on my own field of battle (mention your intention here) I pray in the name of the Father, and the Son and the holy Spirit. Amen.

-- Fr. Daniel Mode

Teach us, good Lord, to serve You as You deserve:
to give and not to count the cost;
to fight and not to heed the wounds;
to toil and not to seek for rest;
to labor and not ask for any reward
save that of knowing that we do Your will.

-- St. Ignatius Loyola
